A reminder of what is blog is about. . .

SSU Language Database

This database lists members of the SSU community that speak languages other than English. This is an opt-in activity and by adding your information you may be contacted for your language skills. All interactions via this database are bound by campus policies of privacy and mandatory reporting. Please note that SSU has not verified the language capability of users of this database.
We hope this database is used to enrich the language experience at SSU.
How could this database be used? Here are some ideas:
  • Create language communities
  • Find someone who speaks your language
  • Studying or traveling abroad? Find someone from the country you will visit.
  • Find a language buddy
  • View the awesome amount of languages spoken on this campus
  • Find an interpreter or translator (note - they can say no and could charge you)
  • Find a tutor
  • Post your announcements about events of interest to language learners in the News Forum
  • Set up a section in the Moodle site in another language
  • What else can you think of?
Email holmstrl@sonoma.edu to be added to the Moodle site if you are an SSU campus member.

Is anybody out there? We have 39 postings to the SSU Language Database. This is great, but no action on the Moodle site or here on the blog. Am I the only one interested in languages spoken at SSU?

Are you making contacts?

We now have two Spanish speakers from El Salvador and two Hmong speakers in the database. Do you know each other? Are any of you making contacts via the database? That's what we're hoping for!
